This 14-day tour showcases cosmopolitan Shanghai, the canal city of Suzhou and the heavenly beauty of Hangzhou before moving to Xian to see the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and ultimate capital Beijing to visit the Forbidden City and climb the Great Wall.

Depart Australia on your Air China flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the Majesty Plaza Hotel for three nights.

Two full days are spent exploring this gracious and cosmopolitan city. See the former Colonial Concessions along the Bund and take a short cruise on the Huangpu River where you will have a spectacular view of the “yesterday & today” of Shanghai. Take a stroll along the twisting alleyways of Old Chinatown and visit the Yu Garden. Also visit the impressive Shanghai Museum and the Jade Buddha Temple. An evening acrobatic show will be arranged.

Travel by coach to Suzhou where you will spend one night at the Holiday Inn Jasmine. Beautiful gardens and waterways are discovered today when you take a short cruise of the Grand Canals, visit the city’s highlights including the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Lingering Garden and the Silk Printing and Dyeing complex.

Transfer by coach to Wuzhen, 1,000 years old town embraced by the Grand Canal and intersected by countless rivers and small canals. The ancient docks, waterside pavilions and corridors that stretch for miles combine to create a truly romantic atmosphere. Continue to Hangzhou where you will spend two nights at Wuyang Hotel.

Hangzhou, renowned for its “heavenly beauty”, picturesque gardens and tranquil surroundings, is revealed today as you enjoy a leisurely cruise on the West Lake and view the Three Moon Reflection Island. Continue on to the Pagoda of Six Harmonies and the Lingyin Temple. There will also be a chance to visit a tea plantation.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian where you will spend two nights at the Titan Times Hotel. Afternoon visit to the old City Wall and in the evening enjoy the Tang Dynasty Cultural Show and dinner.

In Xian you will marvel at the amazing archaeological wonders of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and the Chariot Exhibition, as well as the Shaanxi History Museum.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Beijing where you will spend four nights at the Sunworld Hotel Beijing.

Three full days visiting sights which have captured the imagination of mankind - the magnificent Summer Palace, the exquisite Temple of Heaven, the splendours of the Forbidden City - as well as Tiananmen Square. Tour the “hutongs” - the ‘back alleys’ - by cycle rickshaw where you can see Chinese life at its most traditional. Spend a day visiting the Sacred Way, the Exhibition Hall of the Ming Tombs, and the Great Wall, truly one of the world’s greatest wonders. Enjoy a Peking Duck dinner and a performance of ‘The Legend of Kung Fu’ during your stay.
