O'ahu - Waikiki and Honolulu Sightseeing, Hawai'i

story by: Inspire Hawai'i

There is so much to see and do in Hawai'i and on the ‘main’ island of O'ahu that you could become overwhelmed with choice. To help narrow down your options if you only have a limited time available, at House of Travel we have put together some of our favourite attractions or visitor spots so you don't miss out on anything
    • Pearl Harbour, Arizona Memorial and City Tour. Experience a part of U.S. history during this poignant tour of Pearl Harbour. The Arizona Memorial sits atop the sunken hull of the battleship USS Arizona and commemorates the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Then head downtown for a fully narrated tour of Honolulu city’s highlights.
    • Snorkelling. Explore the marine life conservation area of Hanauma Bay. The natural crescent beach is tucked inside the walls of an extinct volcano and offers a diverse population of marine life, and a large, rich coral reef. Hanauma Bay is the best protected cove for experienced snorkellers or even newcomers to snorkel in on O’ahu and with over 450 species of tropical fish to swim with you’ll be sure to get an experience of a lifetime.
    • Aloha Bus. Jump onboard the new Aloha Bus! Open top double decker buses take you through Honolulu and Waikiki allowing you to enjoy over 1500 different shopping, dining and historical options at your own pace. Hop on and off and explore Bishop’s Museum, eat at Chai’s Island Bistro at the Aloha Tower Marketplace or grab a bargain in Chinatown. The 3 day pass will allow you to explore at your own pace.
    • Grand Circle Island Tour. Explore the wonders and sacred beauties of O’ahu. From the lush, green mountains of the Pali, to the crystal clear blue waters of Hanauma Bay, you will experience the most memorable highlights, culture and diversity O’ahu has to offer. A stop at the Dole Pineapple Plantation is included.
    • Lua’u. Step back in time at a genuine Hawaiian Lua’u. Located on 12 oceanfront acres with a private beach and spectacular sunsets, the setting alone is magical. Enjoy a Mai Tai greeting, island games, a ‘Hukilau’ fishing ceremony, a traditional Hawaiian feast and a fabulous Polynesian show.
    • Catamaran Cruise. Take in the panoramic views of the Pacific and Waikiki as you cruise down the coast on this evening dinner cruise. Step aboard the ‘Ruler of the Sea’ for a casual, fun-filled sunset sail and delicious buffet dinner. After the sun sets enjoy a Polynesian show with dancers and drummers while dining on food such as the local catch with butter sauce. Then party your way back to shore and by the night’s end you’ll be part of the Ali’i Kai family.
    • Surf Bus - North Shore Activities. Enjoy a day on the North Shore where you can enjoy two activities from a range on offer – try stand up paddle boarding (the hot new activity in Hawai'i), learn to surf, swim at the waterfalls or just simply laze on the beach. After your activities you’ll be picked up and taken to visit the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles and then on to lunch in Haleiwa Town (try the shrimp trucks – a local favourite) where you’ll also have time to explore the art galleries and surf museum.
    • Half Day Hawaiian Experience. Choose two tours or activities from a number on offer to explore famous Kualoa Ranch. Take the Movie Site and Ranch tour to see where movies like Jurassic Park and TV shows including Lost were filmed. Enjoy a jungle expedition or learn about the local Hawaiian culture in the Legends and Legacy tour. For something different explore the Ranch by ATV or horseback (both of these are available at an additional cost) and then enjoy lunch at the Ranch House.
    • Hidden O’ahu by Helicopter. This spectacular flight shows you the very best of O’ahu. Explore hidden rainforests, valleys, waterfalls and beaches only made possible by helicopter. Cruise past vivid turquoise coral reefs, and the white sands of Waikiki to the highlight of the tour – Sacred Falls – a shear 1,000 foot cascading waterfall. You’ll end your tour with a panoramic view of Pearl Harbor
