Experience San Francisco and its highlights, USA

story by: Inspire USA

This vibrant city has much to offer and no visit would be complete without a cable car ride from Union Square to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39, where you see the popular sea lion colony. A visit to Alcatraz is a must. Explore the federal prison where some of America’s most famous gangsters did their time, but to avoid disappointment pre book tickets as they sell out fast.
Explore San Francisco’s diverse and colourful neighborhoods by foot, wandering the narrow alleys of Chinatown, stopping for coffee in North Beach, and finally Union Square for a spot of shopping. After a long day of sightseeing sit and watch one of San Francisco’s sunset’s over the bay.
      • CABLE CARS – It’s really compulsory to hang off the side of a cable car in San Francisco. Grab one from Market Street to Fisherman’s Wharf on Powell-Hyde & Powell-Mason lines. California line runs from Financial district through Nob Hill to Van Ness Ave.
      • GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE – Decisions, decisions... walk, cycle, drive or take a helicopter flight over the bridge.
      • UNION SQUARE – Great shopping! Enjoy the hustle and bustle of Union Square.
      • ALCATRAZ – Prison for first half of the 20th century, now a fab tourist attraction. Ferry across to this un-miss able landmark. Tickets are definitely recommended to be pre-purchased before you go, these sell out months in advance in high season (May-Sep).
      • SAUSALITO – Spend an afternoon in this seaside town browsing the cafés, restaurants, shops and galleries.
      • FISHERMAN’S WHARF/GHIRARDELLI SQUARE – Take a walk along Pier 39 and see the Sea Lions that have made the wharf their home. Also a great place for souvenir shopping! Chocolate lovers – well Ghirardelli Square is the place to check out – home of chocolate by the same name – fabulous sundaes, choc treats to die for!
      • FERRY BUILDING – Shop at the Farmers’ Market with the locals for great food and crafts.
      • LOMBARD STREET – Drive or walk down the most crooked part of the street between Hyde and Leavenworth streets –’s steep!
      • ALAMO SQUARE – See the six sisters and other “painted ladies” – the famous row of Victorian houses.
