Athens Sightseeing

story by: Inspire Spain, Portugal, Greece & Turkey

There is so much to see and do in Athens that you could become overwhelmed with choice. To help narrow down your options if you only have a limited time available, at House of Travel we have put together some of our favourite attractions or visitor spots so you don't miss out on anything
  • Athens Hop On Hop Off Tour Great value for money, this tour on an open top double decker bus allows you the time to get to know this city in your own relaxed pace. With three routes winding their way through the historical and culturally rich streets you can be confident nothing of importance will slip you by.
  • Meteora Tour. People do some extreme things in the name of religion and once you clap eyes on the Meteora monasteries you’ll agree that this is right up the list. Perched upon the summits of towering and isolated rocky pinnacles, these monks took home security to a whole new level. For many years the only way in or out was by rope ladders; thankfully today a few monasteries have bridge access. It’s one strange place and definitely worth visiting
  • Saronic Gulf 3 Island Cruise. If you’ve only got a few days in Athens but want a taste of that world renowned, laid back Greek island lifestyle, then this tour fits the bill. This cruise lets you explore the islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra with even time for a spot of shopping or swimming before the day is done.
  • Delphi and Meteora Tour. If you think of Greece your mind wanders to sunny islands and white-washed houses, what you might not think about is Greece’s mainland with it’s many secrets waiting to be discovered. The Delphi Oracles who foretold of mankind’s fate are long gone but the ruins from this mystical time remain, and the breathtakingly beautiful but precariously placed Meteora monasteries make this journey a one-of-a-kind experience
