Gold Coast Travel Guide
The Gold Coast is a favourite Kiwi destination with an endless array of attractions and great value accommodation.
You’re sitting on a small boat on a mirror-calm waterway, watching the sun sink behind the green hills of the hinterland. The fresh prawns sizzling in a pool of garlicky butter will be your reward for another day of fun-filled activity on the Gold Coast that has constantly surprised and delighted you.
A sunset BBQ cruise is a quintessential experience in a place where relaxed outdoor living is practically compulsory. There’s also been some serious retail therapy in the shopping meccas of Pacific Fair and Harbour Town, and you’ve been dragged onto some of the fastest, tallest and longest theme park rides in Australia (names like Tower of Terror gave you fair warning). That breathtaking 70 kilometre stretch of beach has seen you dust off your best surfing poses, but more than all that, this holiday has been a chance to hang out and reconnect.
With its sunny climate, glistening surf beaches and beautiful rainforests, it is a stunning holiday playground – there is so much to do in this cosmopolitan and diverse region.
Broadwater & Marina Mirage: A popular strip of calm water perfect for boating, fishing and swimming. Make sure you have a look at the swanky Marina Mirage waterfront shopping and dining spot overlooking the Broadwater.
Surfers Paradise: The heart of the coast. Exploding with duty-free stores, top-end designers, eats for all budgets and beachfront markets Wednesday and Fridays nights. Don’t miss the pumping nightlife and beaches full of all-sorts.
Broadbeach: This is the place to be for al fresco dining – everywhere you look there are fantastic cafés and restaurants. Just across the highway you’ll find Pacific Fair shopping centre, Gold Coast Convention Centre and Conrad Jupiters Casino – try your luck or see a show.
Mermaid & Nobby Beaches: Pass through these areas on your way to Coolangatta. Perfect for families as they are quieter and you will find beachside BBQ’s, picnic areas and playgrounds.
Coolangatta: The southern end of the coast. Bordering Queensland and New South Wales, well known for its’ relaxed pace, great surfing spots and beaches. Only a short drive to the all new Robina Shopping Centre, the hinterland and cute coastal villages.
