Jagged, improbably steep peaks form the backbone of spectacular Moorea, just a 10-minute flight or a short 30 minute boat ride from Papeete. Its deeply incised bays, Cook’s and Oponohu, are breathtakingly beautiful and its vast lagoon is teeming with life. Moorea’s tranquil lifestyle makes falling into island time effortless. Hire a car or bike and travel one of the most stunning coastal roads in the world past deserted beaches, pineapple plantations and tiny villages. Or work up an appetite for a gourmet dinner with a walk into the inland world of waterfalls and forests. The lagoon is ideal for a multitude of watersports but one of the most enthralling activities is to meet Moorea’s friendly manta rays or even try shark feeding!
