Flights to Fiji

The sun overhead is beaming down from a cloudless blue sky, a gentle breeze is rippling the sparkling warm water and your second piña colada is lulling you into a gentle doze. There’s a faint scent of frangipani blossom in the air, and your  only concern is whether you can get away with possibly having fresh fish for dinner one more time without turning into one yourself.

It’s all so clichéd, isn’t it... But the funny thing about clichés is that they’re accurate. And Fiji is indeed a cliché, in all the best ways. The water really does sparkle when that tropical sun is shining, and it really is that easy to slip into a daily routine that requires very little grey matter. We’re so spoilt that these are the things we take for granted on a Fijian holiday.

What makes a holiday in Fiji truly special, however, are the unexpected moments: watching your kids playing with their new Fijian friends on a visit to a local village, the sticky feel of fresh mango juice running down your chin at a roadside stall, the sudden stop to allow chickens and cows to enforce their right of way over buses and trucks – these are the experiences that truly add colour to your experience.

Get out of your resort and venture a little further afield – try the great local cuisine, trawl the shops in Nadi, hire a car and explore the coastline. Whether it’s your first visit or just your first this year, if you keep your eyes and heart open, Fiji will reward you with a holiday that’s everything you expected and so much more.

Fiji Highlights

• Nadi Markets - Located one block back south of Nadi Main Street, the Nadi Market offers a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and other produce. One whole section of the market, about 30 stalls, is devoted to just one product – Kava. Saturday morning is the busiest market day.

Cruising - There are all sorts of cruising adventures on offer from Denarau’s busy marina, with day and multi-day trips to the Mamanucas and Yasawas. Go snorkelling above the coral gardens, enjoy a tropical picnic on your own private island, take a tall ship safari to the remote Yasawas or experience a yaqona (kava) ceremony in a traditional Fijian village.

Golf - There are nine-hole courses at The Naviti Resort and Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort, as well as a nine-hole putting course at the Warwick Fiji, an 18 hole championship course at The Denarau Golf & Racquet Club and the new 18 hole championship golf course at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa for you to try your golfing skills on.

• Diving and Snorkelling - The crystal clear waters and spectacular reefs of the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands offer great diving, with drop-offs, caves and brilliant corals to explore. Many of the Island resorts will offer Padi dive courses. All Islands will offer snorkelling equipment to enjoy what the beautiful surrounding waters have to offer. Awesome Adventures offer live aboard diving and guided snorkelling safaris.

• Kid's Clubs – Fijians love kids. With many of the resorts offering kid’s clubs that provide a wide range of activities your children will enjoy their time crab racing, husking coconuts or building sand castles with the experienced staff.

Romance and Fiji go hand in hand. Picture yourself on the beach; your toes in the warm soft sand, a scented frangipani tucked in your hair as the crystal clear turquoise waters hug the shore.
