How could one of the world’s most awe-inspiring coastal drives be made even more fascinating? The Great Ocean Roadns know how - they’ve combined the spectacular 300km Great Ocean Road with a route that explores the Grampian Mountains and the atmospheric goldmining town of Ballarat.

Beginning in Melbourne this 777km scenic journey passes famous surfing spots such as Bells Beach on the way to laidback Apollo Bay. Venture on to the world’s highest and longest steel forest canopy walk in the Otway Ranges. The iconic wave-battered Twelve Apostles lie beyond here along the aptly named Shipwreck Coast. During winter months whales can often be seen from the beaches near Warrnambool.

Beyond historic Port Fairy the touring route turns north into the Grampians with its rock escarpments, waterfalls and Aboriginal rock art before heading for historic Ballarat and Sovereign Hill’s living museum.
