Brunei Travel Guide

Also known as the ‘Pearl and Tropical Paradise of the East’.

Brunei boasts beautiful beaches, old traditional houses, modern buildings, green undisturbed forests and golden domes. Though a relatively small country with a small population, the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam is located on the north western shores of the Island of Borneo. Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital and is commonly referred to as ‘BSB’.

Brunei enjoys a rich natural and cultural heritage and is one of Asia’s oldest sovereign nations. It is a modern thriving state with a high quality of life and enhanced economic, social and cultural development. Despite modernisation, the echoes of an ancient culture and a charming tradition of gentle hospitality remain, and are integral parts of the nation. Take a tour on a water taxi of Kampong Ayer, the largest water village in the world.

This is an easy city to walk around to marvel at the many mosques glittering in gold, or get back to nature and take a tour of the undisturbed Jungles. It is perfect as a stopover and you will be greeted with a pleasant equatorial climate. No visa is required for New Zealanders for a stay of 30 days or less. The currency is the Brunei Dollar, but Singapore Dollars are commonly used and accepted as one for one.
