Where have our team been exploring?

Kyla in Cairns

Kyla, Cairns

Kyla recently travelled to the beautiful Tropical North Queensland where she was blown away by the natural beauty of the landscape on show. She spent her days exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest- this is the only location in the world where you stand or swim/ stand in one UNESCO site and view another. Snorkelling, swimming and sailing in the gorgeous turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef, seeing an array of colourful fish and dolphins at play was truly a highlight.

Port Douglas, Palm Cove, Trinity Beach, Karanda, Cape Tribulation and Cairns are a “must see” on your list for a wonderful Self Drive Holiday. Enjoy the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere of the beach side towns Port Douglas and Palm Cove; soak up the sun, enjoy a spot of boutique shopping or just sit poolside with a good book in hand. Jump on board the Skyrail cable car and head up to the Keranda Table lands and browse through the eclectic markets, stop along the way for complimentary short guided walks through the rainforest. Jump in the car and head North to Cape Tribulation and see for yourself the beauty of lush forest, I would recommend a 2 night rainforest retreat….

“Tropical North Queensland is a wonderful destination to reconnect with nature, relax with family or solo travel… on any budget and only a short plane journey from home. I am looking forward to going back!”

Wanting to find out more?  Get in touch with Kyla (kylas@hot.co.nz) and she can help you plan your next Queensland holiday.

Danielle’s Rio wasn’t all about the Olympics

Danielle

Rio de Janeiro is a city filled with delights around every corner and you can't help but be drawn in by its charm and beauty. Host to the recent Olympic Games, Rio's transport infrastructure and facilities have been rejuvenated and their international airport has undergone a multi-million dollar upgrade, making it easier than ever to access and explore new corners of the city.

Crazy, beautiful, unique… it is too hard to sum up this city into one word! Highlights of Rio include the national parks, rainforests, beaches, caprihinas, Brazilian BBQ meats and of course Christ the Redeemer. I fell in love with the city of Rio and its people (the cariocas) every day, there is still no better way to wake up than to the sun rising over Ipanema Beach!

With just two weeks holiday in Central America, Danielle took a G Adventures tour through Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. It was the perfect way to take in as much as possible in this diverse continent. Knowing her transport and accommodation was looked after gave Danielle the flexibility to plan her days and take in all of the activities she could handle; and travelling in a small group with other like minded adventurers meant that Danielle was never alone in creating memories for a lifetime!

“Central America is the perfect destination to get off the beaten track, with a new adventure to be had every day and topped off with a cocktail relaxing on the white sandy beach.”

Highlights from Danielle’s trip include:
- Hiking Pacaya volcano in Guatemala and toasting marshmallows in the embers
- Experiencing the Mayan culture through a homestay family on the stunning Lake Atitlan and historic Tikal ruins
- Snorkelling with sharks and stingrays in the crystal blue water in Belize
- Discovering quaint cafes amongst the cobble-stoned streets of Antigua
- Soaking up the sun in a hammock beachside, cocktail in one hand, book in the other and relaxing to the beats of the Caribbean

If you want to create memories like Danielle’s then talk to Belinda (belindaf@hot.co.nz) who can plan the perfect trip for you.

Lynne and Gary explore South America

Lynne South America

The Pantanal the largest wetlands in the world was one of the highlight’s of Lynne’s trip in South America.

The Transpantaneira Highway starts 1.5 hours from Cuiaba Airport, it is a one way dirt road of 142km, where Lynne and Gary stayed at lodges along the way.  During the dry season (May – September) is the recommended time to travel to the Pantanal for wildlife viewing - they saw numerous animals including caiman, capybara, giant and lesser anteaters, giant otter, howler monkeys, toucan, macaw, jaibaru stork and many other species of bird life.

“A fantastic experience including 4WD trips, piranha fishing, afternoon boat trip to feed the piranha we caught to the caiman, horseback riding and a sunrise canoe trip.”

Another fabulous highlight was Iguazu Falls, a must do is the boat trip under the falls, there is absolutely no chance of staying dry, but it is exhilarating. A tour of both sides of the falls is recommended, on the Argentinean side you are ‘part of the picture’ on the Brazilian side you ‘see the picture’.

Sharon in our team helped Lynne and Gary get to South America, contact Sharon (sharonh@hot.co.nz) now if you want to experience the wildlife there.

Bula Belle!

Belle-Fiji-(005)-opt

Belle travelled to Fiji for her first time, exploring the picturesque Mamanuca Islands and Southern Yasawas whilst on board a fantastic “Captain Cook Cruise”.

Cruising is an excellent way to explore the Fijian Islands as you to see a lot in a short amount of time- only unpacking your suitcase once is perfect!

The highlights for Belle on her cruising adventure included; visiting a local school and village, attending a traditional Fijian church service, witnessing shark feeding and snorkelling amongst amazing sea life.

An amazing trip and she will definitely be returning!

If you want to plan your next Pacific Island holiday contact Belle (belleg@hot.co.nz) now.
