7 of Sydney's Best Rooms With A View

story by: Tom Ricketts

1. SHANGRI-LA
The Shangri-La Hotel is located in a skyscraper, just a stones throw from Circular Quay. All 565 rooms have harbour views, some also with views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, or both! The rooms are all luxuriously decorated, and the exclusive Presidential and Royal Suites, do indeed host many a famous guest. The hotels Blu Bar on the 36th floor is an awesome place to watch the lights of Sydney come alive in the evening.

2. PARK HYATT
The Park Hyatt is blessed with arguably the best location of any Sydney hotel, directly opposite the Sydney Opera House and underneath the Harbour Bridge. The super luxury hotel has only 155 rooms, some with balconies and private terraces to enjoy the views from.

3. INTERCONTINENTAL
The InterCon is built around a gorgeous heritage building, over 160 years old! The location can’t be beat, any closer to the Opera House and you would be in it! Plus there’s beautiful Hyde Park and the botanic gardens just across the road too. The building may be old, but the rooms are anything but. All have modern furnishings and of course, wonderful Opera House and harbour views.

4-5. IBIS AND NOVOTEL DARLING HARBOUR
You don’t have to be paying the big bucks to get awesome views. The three star Ibis Hotel and her four star sister, the Novotel, are both located on the far side of Darling Harbour looking back towards the city centre. There’s no Opera House or Harbour Bridge views, but the city skyline is certainly impressive enough, and the city’s entertainment precinct full of shops, museums, bars and restaurants is right at your doorstep.

6. NOVOTEL MANLY
One of our favourite city getaways is Manly Beach, just 20 minutes away by ferry. The Novotel is situated in the thick of things, surrounded by restaurants and bars, and right across the road from the beach. Manly itself has a more relaxed vibe than other beaches like Bondi, making it a great place to unwind and relax. Rooms have balconies with great views through the pines to the beach. It’s great for families too with Two Bedroom Suites and a rooftop pool!

7. Q STATION
Want to avoid the noises of the central city and the crowds of the beaches completely? We have the place for you! The Quarantine Station on North Head is a collection of historic buildings sitting on a 30 hectare site lined with walking tracks, private beaches, and amazing coastal scenery. Take in the view from your heritage hotel room, or book one of the three renovated historic cottages for longer stays.
