Stunning Italy weddings

 Positano, Italy

Italy is without doubt one of the world's most romantic locations to get married. From dramatic coastal scenery to medieval towns you will find an area perfect for your special day and the honeymoon to follow.

House of Travel can help you fulfil your dreams with a simple romantic getaway or a unique wedding shared with friends and family.

There are a number of weddings you can choose from in Italy - a civil wedding, religious wedding, symbolic ceremony or a simple blessing. In the case of legal weddings it is necessary to present documents to the local authorities. The documents vary depending on the type of ceremony requested and House of Travel can help you with these and talk you through the legal requirements.

Symbolic ceremony
If you want an Italian Wedding in a spectacular setting such as a medieval courtyard, a beautiful vineyard, or a romantic Italian garden without worrying about completing documents for a civil or religious ceremony then the symbolic ceremony is the right choice for you. This type of wedding is not legally binding and you have the freedom to personalise the ceremony to reflect your values and beliefs and tailor it to your wishes without limitations and restrictions. Usually you will have the civil ceremony in New Zealand then travel to Italy for a traditional Italian wedding in an absolutely stunning and unique setting.

Civil ceremony
Civil Ceremonies are legal weddings and may be celebrated in the ancient, charming Town Halls in any Italian city or a property purchased by the local government. Your unforgettable ceremony begins with the readings of the civil vows conducted in Italian which are about 15 to 20 minutes long. We can provide an interpreter and you can add to the wedding ceremony if you like. After the reading, the rings are exchanged and then the witnesses and Bride & Groom sign the wedding act. The minimum stay required in Italy is 4 days before the marriage can take place. Town Hall ceremonies are conducted Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 9am and noon and must be booked in advance.

Religious Ceremony
You can be married in Italy in a Catholic ceremony. However this can only be performed in a Catholic Church and can only be celebrated when both bride and groom are Catholic. If one of the parties is of a different religion, a Catholic wedding is still possible as long as you attend the required pre-marital classes and have the paper work approved by the religious authorities in Italy. In the case of one of the parties being divorced, the Catholic Church will not allow you to remarry in the church unless you have an annulment recognized by the Catholic Authorities.
