• What does the domestic cancellation policy cover?

  If you have to cancel or curtail your travel arrangements because of any unforeseen cause beyond your control you may claim for, then you are covered for: Loss of deposits already paid or charges contracted to be paid and/or Reasonable additional travel costs if your journey has already commenced Excess $20 per adult each loss.

• Why do I need Cancellation Insurance?

  If for some unforeseen reason you are forced to cancel or change your plans, for a small fee, you can cover yourself for financial losses

• Is there more comprehensive Domestic Insurance available?

  We only offer cancellation insurance as ACC and Domestic Home and Contents Insurance applies within New Zealand.

• Are the children travelling with me covered by domestic cancellaton insurance?

  In short - Yes. Age is irrelevant the Domestic Cancellation policy covers all of your non-refundable travel arrangements dependent on the level of cover purchased.

• What does the domestic cancellation policy not cover?

  There is no cover in the following situations:
  • Your financial circumstances, personal wishes, or disinclination to travel, the request of your employer, business reasons or your failure to check in according to an itinerary or times advised to you.  
  • Any pre-existing medical or surgical condition of either yourself or any other person (including pregnancy or childbirth).
  • Any circumstances for which you are aware that could lead to a claim, for cancellation or curtailment of your travel, or any strike which was present at the time of your booking.
  • Suicide, intentional self-injury, insanity, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, HIV, alcohol or drug-related conditions or you engaging in an illegal act.
  • Financial default of any travel agent or any person acting as your agent, tour operator, tour wholesaler, accommodation provider, transport provider.
  • Any error or default of any travel agent, tour wholesaler, accommodation provider or transport provider
  • War, invasion, hostilities, civil war, terrorism, riot, civil commotion, overthrow of the government
  • Operation of the law.
  • The cancellation or postponement of the Act/Concert/Show on which the travel relies

• When will my excess apply?

  Your excess will apply to each Adult whenever you claim. This will be deducted from each loss which occurs as a separate event. (a child is someone who is financially dependant and is under 21 years of age)

• Who is the Travel Insurance provider for House of Travel?

  House of Travel Insurance is underwritten by Allianz Global Assistance.
