Often still referred to as Saigon, this dynamic city is Vietnam’s economic heart and is fast developing into a major city.
It is a mixture of the hustle and bustle of an emerging city, yet set in a region marred by years of war. Highlights of your visit would include the Thien Hau Pagoda, the Cholon District (Chinatown) and the wholesale market, selling everything under the sun at rock bottom prices.
Home to several fascinating museums, including the War Remnants Museum, a chilling but captivating reminder of past atrocities as is visiting the Reunification Palace, left pretty much exactly as it was the day the North Vietnamese tanks rolled in.
Any trip to the south is not complete without discovering the Cu Chi Tunnels. Built and inhabited by Viet Cong, these extensive tunnel networks are incredible.
With so much to see and do, Saigon is a great starting point for exploring Vietnam.
