London – it’s one of the world’s truly great cities. Your first visit will be mind-blowing but what’s great about London is that it is a city you can explore time and time again and always find something startlingly new or amazingly historic.

Where to start in a city with an incredible history dating back thousands of years, some of the most iconic attractions on earth and over 30,000 shops? Maybe at Westminster Abbey where every British king or queen has been crowned since 1066, or strolling the aisles of that ultimate shopping destination Harrods.

Take a ride on the breathtaking London Eye, the world’s largest observation wheel; or cruise the Thames River to Greenwich and step inside a quintessential Gastro Pub like The Union – the food is simple, classic British, and all locally sourced. London never sleeps so splash out on dinner in a Michelin-starred restaurant or dip into a myriad of cuisines from Caribbean to North African. Four you can’t go home without seeing are, the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace & the Royal Observatory. Each epitomizes England’s wealth, power and architectural prowess during their respective historical periods.

Markets - Like many European cities London is full of markets, many of which date back to medieval times. From fruit and vege stalls through to high end antiques stands there are bargains to be found all over town. Some of our favourites are the Borough Food Market, Camden Market and Portobello Road Market. To help you plan your visit, check out www.londonmarkets.co.uk

West End Theatre - No trip’s complete without at least one night out in London’s famous West End ‘Theatreland’. London palace greensHere you can see all the top musicals like Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia & Wicked to name just a few.

Shopping - You’ve done Oxford Street and Harrods; now why not wander down Sloane Street, peer into the windows of Gucci, Dior or Versace trying to see someone famous, grab a coffee at a sidewalk café in Sloane Square then head down the Kings Road in Chelsea for some more star spotting.

Holiday Snaps - Get your photo taken in front of Parliament & Big Ben. Did you know the world’s most famous clock tower isn’t actually called Big Ben but St Stephens Tower; Big Ben is the name of the largest bell inside the tower.

Insider Insights

"When in the Earls Court area, head to Old Brompton Road for a great range of good eateries. We recommend the Troubadour, which incidentally received the best UK cafe award for 2009 and has been known as the best
eatery west of Big Ben! Check out (www.troubadour.co.uk) this place has it all, a gallery, cafe, live music, a club which parties on into the night, and an excellent selection of wines including wine tastings and a room for private functions."

London iceskaters at night
"One of my favorite and most romantic Christmas time activities in London is to go ice skating. Many famous landmarks offer their picturesque backdrops to temporary outdoor rings across the city. Some of my favorites are the Natural History Museum and the Tower of London, Somerset House and Canary Wharf."
Nadine Brits

"Of course a visit to London is nothing without a pint in a traditional Pub. The Red Lion on Kingly Street is one such pub. Tucked away behind Carnaby Street, it’s hard to find location ensures it’s always relatively free from tourists. For the more lively of you, London has plenty of “party pubs”, Waxy O’Connors in the West End has 3 bars, 6 different levels and even a giant beech tree right in the middle!"
Neela Bhana

"If you’re “Hank Marvin”, why not try some traditional Cockney grub. No one does it better than Manzes Pie
and Mash shops. (www.manze.co.uk) Still serving traditional pie & mash and eels (jellied or stewed), in authentic East End surroundings - Luvly jubbly."
